Thanks for stopping by!

Our cozy little village is nestled between NY Route 284 and the Appalachian Trail on the southwestern edge of Orange County, New York. We share a common border with the Town of Wantage in northwestern New Jersey.

Although originally settled 50 years before the start of the American Revolution, it was not until the early 1820's that the settlement began answering to the name of "Unionville". Another 48 years would pass before the official incorporation of the village on August 22, 1871. Presently we number around 600 souls in about 200 households.

Once a bustling commercial center for the Town of Minisink's wide-spread dairy industry, Unionville was side-stepped by the economic and transportation explosions of the second half of the 20th century. However, despite being located "off the beaten track", we are still relatively close to large commercial, manufacturing, distribution and industrial centers and we have adapted very nicely to our present role as a quiet little "bedroom and/or second home" community.

Our MOST IMPORTANT PRODUCT is one that is increasingly difficult to find in today's America (especially in the densely populated northeast) -- A GREAT PLACE TO RAISE A FAMILY!

So, if you're a visitor driving on NY Route 284 or back-packing on the Appalachian Trail, we cordially invite you to "stop and sit a spell" and we welcome you to our website. If, on the other hand, you are one of the "we fortunate few" who get to call Unionville your home, you are invited to browse through those self-same pages. In them you will find a host of helpful information and tid-bits about what HAS happened and what WILL happen in our village.

With Warm Regards,

Residents of Unionville, NY
